The L.A. Collective is an exciting, contemporary jazz group that was formed several years ago as a backup band for several artists on the Dave Koz Cruise. The L.A. Collective’s personnel includes drummer Tony Moore, keyboardist Greg Manning, and bass player Darryl Williams, with Adam Hawley and Kay-Ta Matsuno on guitar duties. This talented group of players has continued to impress Southern California audiences and enthusiastic fans for years, as they have a raw energy to their sound, which is a blend of jazz, funk, Latin, and soul. The L.A. Collective always puts on an amazing live show, performing at various jazz festivals and outdoor venues throughout California.
Erin Stevenson got her start at the tender age of 10 she was a member of “Girls Tyme,” a prepubescent group of girls who later became Destiny’s Child. Her first single reached #5 on the Billboard Dance Charts in 2006 and she’s had several songs featured in major films. Erin has been blessed with many gifts including a sultry voice, electric dance moves, producing and songwriting, and the ability to deliver breathtaking performances with her feisty personality. This has led her to starring in her own shows as well as working alongside Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Duran Duran, Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Yolanda Adams and Jaime Foxx name a few.
Tony Moore has toured and/or recorded with the following: Bobby Caldwell, George Benson, Jeff Lorber, Gerald Albright, Randy Crawford, Robben Ford, Diane Schuur, Wayne Henderson & The Jazz Crusaders; The Isley Brothers, Kenny Lattimore, Richard Elliot, Euge Groove, Jonathan Butler, Norman Brown, Jessy J, Rick Braun; Howard Hewett, Jeff Golub, Phil Perry, Paul Brown, Paul Taylor, Shirley Caesar, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, and Peabo Bryson just to name a few. Moore’s other prominent studio credits include Gladys Knight’s Grammy-winning One Voice; Herb Alpert’s Grammy-winning Steppin’ Out, Dreamgirls: Music for the Motion Picture Soundtrack: One For The Money; Music for the Motion Picture Soundtrack Katharine McPhee’s Unbroken; Shirley Caesar’s I Remember Mama and Lorber’s Heard That.
Greg Manning, for almost a decade, was on the road with 2-time Grammy-nominated Jonathan Butler as his musical director. Manning also performed with Brian McKnight, Mindi Abair, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Chanté Moore, Eric Marienthal, Richard Elliot, and more. In 2014, Maurice White signed Greg Manning to his new label Kalimba Music. The CD Dance With You was released on July 8, 2014, and received critical acclaim. Manning’s singles from 2013-2014 include “Dance With You” (2013) and won Song of the Year on Smooth Jazz Top 20 & made Billboard Top 5; “Groove Me” (2013) made Billboard Top 20; and “Cruisin’ Down The Road” (2014) made Billboard Top 10.
Darryl Williams has toured and performed with Jeff Golub, Euge Groove, Peter White, Michael Lington, Paul Brown, Gerald Albright, Richard Elliot; Chaka Khan, Mindi Abair, Jeff Lorber, Jonathan Fritzen, Four80East, Gloria Gaynor, Ronnie Foster, Brian Simpson, and many more. In 2008, Williams released his solo album entitled That Was Then, which received high accolades from several top smooth jazz writers and DJs. Williams is scheduled to release a new CD late 2016.
